What do you do with all of your toner and ink cartridges when empty?

by admin on August 21, 2008

Getting rid of empty printer cartridges can be a real mess. While some can be refilled by individual users, many can not. This is why we have worked with recycling facilities to develop programs to take these cartridges back and keep them out of landfills.

Why is it important to recycle your cartridges?

  • More than 3 quarts of oil are used to produce each laser cartridge.
  • The plastic used in each printer cartridge takes more than 10 centuries (that’s 1000 years!) to decompose.
  • 25 million printer cartridges go to land fills each month.
  • Toner cartridge remanufacturing saves over 38,000 tons of plastic and metal from landfills.
  • Stacking 125 laser toner cartridges end-to-end equals the height of the Statue of Liberty.

Obviously, these empty toner cartridges can present a big problem!

When looking for a solution, we found RecyclePlace.com:
http://www.recycleplace.com/

From their website, you can not only do the right thing by recycling, but be paid to do it!

You’ll need to Register:
http://www.recycleplace.com/register.php

Then they’ll send you an email with your shipping label and how to proceed.

While doing this, be sure to hang up a few of our toner and inkjet cartridge recycling posters to remind everyone in your facility of your program.
