Does everyone in your facility know where your recycle bins are?

by admin on October 5, 2007

This might seem like a silly question, but it’s one worth asking. Does everyone in your facility know where your recycle bins are in your building? Do they all know which bin is for paper, which is for cans, which is for glass and which is for electronics?

It seems like a simple question, because all of the people who deal with recycling every day know these areas well. This would include your cleanup crew, your plant supervisors and the few recycling champions in your facility. What about the line workers? the secretaries? the HR people?

Make it easy for everyone to find your recycling facilities with a large banner over the area and a series of signs pointing to your various bins. Infact, put some decals on each bin telling exactly what is stored in each.

For an example of a banner (in 9 standard sizes), see RBAN003:

The results of the survey weren’t by any means pretty, but there’s no hiding from the fact that these are the cold hard facts and that it’s this reality that is sparking awareness, which has got to be a great thing.we really need to do something against it.
